Re: Demuxing Matroska sources is slower

I've noticed that the test version uses quite a lot of memory, and doesn't release it when the job is complete even when the clip is closed. I just demuxed one UHD clip and memory usage is about 4600 MB after it's finished and closed. I haven't checked if this happens all the time or just in this on...

Re: Demuxing Matroska sources is slower

I've compared against one source with TrueHD audio, no differences in the files produced between the official and test version. The optimized version was as fast as in the previous tests.

Re: Demuxing Matroska sources is slower

That version is much faster, seems like it fixed the issue. SSD to SSD is also quite fast with the old version so I suppose it has something to do with mechanical HDDs having to move the heads around? The files are so huge that they are probably fragmented into a million pieces. Still I wonder why W...

Re: Demuxing Matroska sources is slower

Cheers, I will test SSD to SSD when I get back from work (i.e. move from the corner of the drawing room sofa to the computer chair  ) If your theory regarding thrashing holds, it could make a noticable difference. I wouldn't be surprised if this was something specific related to the chipset its...

Re: Demuxing Matroska sources is slower

Disk usage stays low, Task Manager shows around 5-6% for the whole system. Also no problems with excessive CPU usage or Windows Defender acting up, it also uses very little CPU or disk when I index and demux. Does anyone else see the thing when you cancel indexing and demuxing still progresses till ...

Re: Demuxing Matroska sources is slower

Unfortunately it's just as slow, no distinguishable difference to the official build.

My OS is Windows 10 Professional 64bit, Ryzen 3900X + X370 motherboard based build with the latest AMD drivers installed. No fancy things, just a bunch of HDDs + some USB ones in the system.

Re: Demuxing Matroska sources is slower

I recreated a test file to be sure of the conditions. This time I used the movie Se7en (Remastered edition), imported it in MKVToolnix GUI and chose only the VC-1 video track, DTS-HD MA audio track and chapters. Exported to a regular HDD, which I know to be the fastest HDD I have. Filesize 27,3 GB. ...

[RESOLVED] Demuxing Matroska sources is slower

I've recently started using DGIndexNV to demux with every source type I run into since it's much more convenient to index and demux in one go. I noticed that demuxing Matroska files is quite slow, and did a quick test to see how it looks. I have a 36,5 GB file which I first indexed and demuxed the f...

Re: Feature Requests

Actually I didn't know that 16-bit output is what the NVidia decoder gives you ;) I'll test if there is any actual visible difference if I dither down to 10 bits and use that as an analysis clip. It won't be used for the actual final output so chances are that it's faster and not distinguishable at ...

No, I mean the output you get from DGSource. As far as I know, both Avisynth+ and Vapoursynth accept YUV420P10 happily.

Re: Feature Requests

Would it be possible to have DGDecode output the native bitdepth of the source? My point is that for HDR sources, I could do the motion analysis in MVTools in 10-bit domain and then denoise in 16-bit domain for a nice little speedup. It doesn't make sense to dither down to 10 bits in this case as th...

I hope Boulder replies because I don't have a clue. :?
--hdr-opt is probably the only one that you need in addition to what is already provided by DGIndexNV. And of course, the x265 parameters to taste. --hdr is set automatically if you specify master-display or max-cll.

Please let me know if this is working for you. The line is labeled X265_CL and it is at the bottom of the DGI file. http://rationalqm.us/misc/DGIndexNV_Boulder.exe Thank you, works and looks good :D I'd remove all the extra whitespaces though, the input values are strings and I don't know if they a...

Re: Feature Requests

OK, how about adding a formatted command line to the DGI file right there with the existing HDR lines? You could copy and paste from that and it would be easier to implement. Or I could just replace the existing lines with the formatted version. That would definitely work fine. While you're at it, ...

Re: Feature Requests

All these would then be easy to drop in the x265 commandline. I don't understand that. How would that work, i.e., how would script contents get into a command line? You want to put it just as a comment and then you could cut and paste from that? Exactly that. It's so much easier and error proof to ...

Your (sad) progress bar made me realise that I've already "known" you for 18 years :salute: Where did the years go? Well, they took the colour of my beard with them but I look good in grey or white anyway. To celebrate these years, I have a simple feature request: Would it be possible to have the HD...

Re: Feature Requests

Hello! I did not find the answer in the documentation (maybe I was looking badly) - can DGIndexNV make an index file for each downloaded file, and not one common index file (.dgi) for all files in the list (i.e. make multiple *.DGIs)? I want to individually recode each file using AviSint, but I don...

Re: Feature Requests

By the way, you'll want to ditch the last ConvertBits. Both x264 and x265 will happily accept 16-bit input and convert down to the final bitdepth (x265 has the parameter --dither to enable HQ dithering). If I'm not mistaken, they both work internally in 16 bits anyway.

Re: CUDA Suggestions and Talk

Having a high quality resizer like ResampleHQ would be a nice addition to the toolset. https://gist.github.com/4re/64642122e359c37543fe I personally use it all the time for downsizing with Bicubic, but I don't know if the GF hardware supports that one (particularly the b and c parameters that I tune...

[RESOLVED] DGIndexNV loses the video stream after indexing

I noticed a small problem with the latest slipstream (174). After indexing the selected file(s), the video stream is "closed" so that if you try to preview the video, you get the error "No video frames found!". This is usually not an issue, but sometimes I check the frame structure by previewing the...

Re: Feature Requests

I have two feature requests: 1) A resize calculator alongside the cropping tool. Currently I usually downscale UHD and HD sources to 1080p and 720p respectively and I need to open one m2ts file in the Avisynth script creator in MeGUI just to do the maths instead of getting all the necessary things o...

[RESOLVED] Issue with Cropping Tool slider button

I found a small bug from the Cropping Tool. If you click on the slider button after you've done the auto cropping part, the cropping value changes without the slider moving at all. After auto crop: https://i.ibb.co/mztVqYC/after-autocrop.png After clicking on the top crop slider button: https://i.ib...
