Seems that all the 435.xx pre release drivers are broken

Some builds of 435.27 were broken

Also note that these prerelease drivers were released 2 months ago
Official drivers are still on 431.xx

View >> Options >> Internal Filters
The why?
If they are not disabled, MPC will use the internal filters and not the external LAVF

Yes, that is one of the links, but sometimes the normal control panel doesn't get installed after a DCH uninstall and standard install.
Or at least that is what I gathered from reading some of posts on the issue. I might have misread though

Point is that MS will attempt to install DCH drivers every so often, even if you don't want them

Get used to it
DCH drivers are the new norm for OEMs
Hardware (systems) and software (OS)
Every major win 10 update might do it, and maybe even some smaller ones
Boy, am I happy I shut down automatic Windows Updates

I am a pretty average user, don't have two cards and don't know if my system could handle it for the reasons you mentioned
