Re: Stream init failed with MKV 5.5.0

That file uses an obsolete no-longer-supported compression method, COMP_PREPEND, otherwise known as the infamous "header removal". Yep, true. :bravo: I tried to recreate the same file with same version of MKV Toolnix but with the "--compression" "0:none" to all the track numbers and it demuxes corr...

[RESOLVED] Stream init failed with MKV 5.5.0

I have found a little bug when trying to demux tracks with video created with old MKVToolnix, i.e. 5.5.0. Not tried with older or bit newer ones. You can find it at https://mkvtoolnix.download/windows/releases/5.5.0/ If you try to demux using DGIndexNV, it throws up a Stream init failed error, it cr...

I'm curious how you managed to determine the audio delay this precisely, I've tried inspecting the resulting file with MediaInfo, MakeMKV and MKVCleaver but I did not found it.
Simply demux with any GUI that relies on MKVToolnix toolkit. DGIndexNV too.

Re: [RESOLVED] Displaying HDR in DGIndexNV GUI

In another thread tormento suggested adding the capability to convert HDR to SDR for display in the DGIndexNV GUI. I like the separated approach under Video. The important thing, in future iterations, will be to pass all the parameters to AviSynth script. Or do you prefer to save them into DG...

Re: Incorrect duration after indexing

Here the issue is different. Load the 2 VOBs in AviDemux and export as mkv, copying video and audio tracks (no encoding). You will have a perfectly synced track and, if you try to demux, you will find that audio has 1941ms of delay. IMHO VirtualDub and FFMpeg don't honor the delay. Is there any syn...

Re: Incorrect duration after indexing

When opening the VOB in MPC-HC it has a duration of 20:30.976. But once I index it with DGIndexNv and opens it with DGSource+VirtualDub or FFMPEG the video duration is 20:32.160. Video and audio have different lenghts. MPC-HC takes the longest of the two to display duration. Just use MediaInfo to a...

Wouldn't want to re-invent avspmod though, or would we?

Re: 4K HDR: failed to create video decoder on 43x.xx

I just convert to 8-bit for display by truncating; there's no need for anything fancier for DGIndexNV. Humble hint for future release: provide path to DGHDRtoSDR in DGIndexNV.ini and use it to display preview when HDR is found using SDR display (vast majority of us, I think). On a second pass, abil...
