[RESOLVED] Interlaced VC-1 logs as progressive

admin do you know of any issues wrt writing the log file for interlaced VC-1? I have some 1080i TV shows (from BD disc) I'm working with that the log file said were "Frame Structure: Progressive". Using Preview I can see in the Info dialog that there are mostly Frame Interlaced and some Field Interl...

Re: DGDecodeNV(deinterlace=1) vs. KernelDeint

<Here> is a page with some "objective numbers" about various (bob-) deinterlacers. Thanks for the useful link. people happily use slow, slower and evenslower x264 settings to improve 2 percent here, another percent there. But when it's about vastly improved frame quality at vastly reduced birate, t...

Re: SLI configurations?

It seems to me that this was discussed elsewhere and that SLI'ed videocards offered no advantage, though I don't recall the reason for it exactly--something to the effect that the decoding is done on an independent ASIC on a card and not the GPU (and not on a doubled GPU).

The primary advantages [include] correct decoding... Well, I like the summary a lot especially that you led with this one. I'd had inexplicable decoding errors myself which found their way (of course) into my encodings and there was no rhyme/reason to it. Very frustrating. But since my exclusive re...

Question about I-frames in h.264 files

While the DGDecNV toolset knows the two types of I-frames possible in h264 videos--regular I-frames, and IDR frames, when I use debug=true I only ever see "I" with "Frame Coding Type:", never "IDR". Is there a way to tell the difference using the debug info? Or (easily) cross-check the VDub screens ...

Hmm, my sarcasm detector just pegged... Or am I misreading your tone? Clearly DG is serious. Re: Suddenly encoding fps is very slow

I'm hoping this is a common problem It is not. Something in your system has gone haywire. If it were me I'd be inclined to look at CPU usage in Task Mgr/Perf Monitor first to see if x264 is running close to 100% as it usually does or whether any other process is hogging the system. Easiest thing to...

I tested on Ride with the Devil (Criterion Collection): EAC3TO: 213969 frames DGDecNV: 213970 frames FWIW, I too have found that occasionally eac3to gets the frame count wrong (I've only ever seen it off by one as your example). [RESOLVED] Any idea why internet access requested

I installed ZoneAlarm some time ago and notice that it pops-up when DGIndexNV is running: "DGIndexNV.exe is trying to access the Internet. Destination IP 224.0.0.252". afaik the only reason for using >1 pass is if you are trying to hit a bitrate (i.e. file size) target. If not then 1-pass with a quality target is the way to go.

[RESOLVED] How to find an I frame

Trying to find I frames in an h264 video. When open it with DGDecNV and step forward from the beginning, the Information window shows the "Playback #"along with the frame type, so it seems in this way I can find the first-many I frames in the video. But if I want to find an I-frame elsewhere e.g. at...
