The increased precision might cause a stronger denoising effect, or it simply stabilizes the image more and x265 is able to utilize reference frames better. It would also be interesting to know if the frame type decisions also change - I'd expect them to be different.

It's faster because x265 works faster if the bitrate is lower.

Ok. Guess I will test it then. Just tested avisynth 3.70 compared to the r2772 with avsmeter 390. With a 4k source 3.70 is about 4% slower than r2772 (with the same avs file). I know that for 4k, CPU is the bottleneck, but why upgrade to something that is slower than what one is currently using :-)...

I think these ones would be generally very useful in any resampling function.

I found a bug which probably appeared with the fixes made around this whole feature. If I open a Matroska file (didn't test others) in the GUI, it opens normally but also produces small fragments of the tracks that it would demux if I saved a project. The QP generation is really useful. Could you please extend it to mkv too? I can manually generate using chapters2qp but an automated job would be better :D It does work for mkv files. I think the path thing is so tied to the OS that it might not be worth it. I remembered that I had similar issues with indexing as well, it just didn't launch DGIndexNV even if there were no errors.

Yes, now it works for that part. With demuxing disabled and no -a, no demuxing occurs. With -a, everything is demuxed and the qp file is produced as well.
