Testing default avatar

Gals and guys, in case you didn't know... To make your avatar transparent, i.e., get rid of the background box and float in space, then your avatar must be PNG or GIF and the transparent color is pure white. Your avatar can also be an animated GIF but it is discouraged as too distracting.

Testing default avatar

I didn't like that 'Viewed x times' nonsense shown under attached animated GIFs, so I got rid of it. For example:

Send PM to Rocky to discuss.

I'll check into it. You're right. Guests should see the correct avatars.

Members are responsible for their own avatars. I can change the default avatar but I don't mess with member configurations.

BTW, the Moose Approved/Curly Approved rank has been corrected to Curly Approved/Moose Approved.

Voila! Got rid of the transparency. I hope the new default icon is sufficiently boring to encourage members to change it.

Are you listening gonca?

Ah, OK, have to flush browser cache. Still the new one looks yucky. Don't need that transparency. I'll try to find a good one. At least I know how to do it now.

I tried a lot of stuff to change the default avatar but it remains stuck on the gears. Will try again later.

It works! I may remove them from existing posts too if I get the energy. Requires a SQL query through cpanel.

Ignore this too. I installed an extension to prevent having "Re:" on replies. Let's see if it works.

Re: Forum/website backup?

Sure, DG , no problem. Things are backed up in two steps: 1. tar.gz the entire account through the cpanel. Download the tar.gz to an HDD on my PC. 2. Export the SQL database through the phpbb Administration Control Panel and download the result tar.gz to the HDD on my PC. There are three HDDs that I...

OK, i installed an extension that should be able to stop the spam. Let's see.

Just fiddling to try to fix something wrong with this subforum. If you have moved a thread that had the 'Last post' then the subforum shows as having No posts in the Last post column (instead of reverting to the previous post). I fixed it by just making this useless post. OK, enough futzing around f...

Hated the question mark so implemented a default avatar extension. It applies only if you have not assigned your own avatar. Right now it just uses the extension's 'gears' avatar but that could change. Suggestions welcome. Maybe the old 'boring' avatar I used to use. ;)

Any objections to removing the prosilver style?

We're considering removing the generic (boring) prosilver theme which was our default theme until Latte. So in the interests of proper consideration for our users, I'd like to ask if anyone would be upset if we removed prosilver and re-configured Latte as your theme. Like the preacher always says, s...

Re: Just testing thread icons

I successfully set the green check on some threads in the DGDecNV forum. It works fine, so going forward we will use this in lieu of [RESOLVED] and [CLOSED] prefixes to the thread titles. To mark a thread resolved on the thread listing, edit the first post in the thread and set the green check for t...
