Re: Feature Requests

I could be wrong, but IIRC nVidia doesn't support it, because no user-facing content is ever lossless, so it's not something DG can fix without nVidia's help.

Re: fps?

I knew you were smart, Aleron, now you confirm it. :ugeek: ;) I have researched the environmental issues for my drives and it's OK for my garage. You have to wait for the drive to come near room temperature before trying to access it, that's all. Freezing is not a problem. I'm more worried about he...

Re: fps?

Is your car in a garage most of the time? I would be worried about the strain on a HDD of the huge temperature swings that a car undergoes if it has to sit outside. Even so, I've been a bit worried about not having an "off-site" backup in the past, so perhaps I will start doing that, too. I wi...

I don't know, as someone who has had his car burgled more than once, I might be more inclined to put a backup disk inside a fireproof box, rather than in a car. :?

Have you tried the latest official x264 build? Maybe the build you're using has a bug.

Wikipedia mentions that Mega didn't play nicely with IE10, so I guess it's no surprise that it doesn't work with IE11, either.

Mega can be picky if you have NoScript enabled. You have to allow not one, but two different Mega domains in order for the site to work, at least in SeaMonkey.

Re: Survey: Who still needs Avisynth 2.58 support in DGDecodeNV?

Thanks, I didn't know that there was a speed difference between x86 and x64 x264, as I haven't followed its development very closely. I guess I won't be able to switch unless Don feels like making an x64 version of Decomb some day, as that's one of my most-used plugins. :D

Re: Survey: Who still needs Avisynth 2.58 support in DGDecodeNV?

Out of curiosity, why do people want a 64-bit processing chain? The only benefit I can think of is that you would need > 4 GiB of memory to encode UHD videos, but is there some other reason? I'm not aware of x64 providing any extra speed for this kind of application. If Avs+ is generally faster than...

Re: Survey: Who still needs Avisynth 2.58 support in DGDecodeNV?

As a worst-case scenario, you could keep a copy of the final DGDecNV binary that supports 2.5.8 and allow registered users to request it if they have some specific need for 2.5.8 support, and then you can move ahead with 2.6 support in newer DGDecNV builds. There's no need to keep old source of that...

Re: Survey: Who still needs Avisynth 2.58 support in DGDecodeNV?

Yeah, I don't think XP support is a factor here, as VFW is available on XP. AviSynth 2.6 changes and updates a lot of things on the AVS side of things, but the OS doesn't really care if you use 2.6 or 2.5.8. Considering you can even compile AviSynth with something as old as MSVC1998 (and judging by ...

Re: Running DGDecIM on a virtual machine

A VM will usually expose generic hardware to the OS running within it, so I would be surprised if it's possible to read your mainboard's serial number from within a VM. That's also why things like graphics drivers won't work: you can't install nVidia's GPU driver in a VM, because the VM tells the OS...

Re: NVidia and You(?) (complete with poll)

I never rely on WHQL certification when it comes to deciding which driver to use; I read user reports of each driver version specifically related to which driver provides the best performance on my particular GPU and the particular application where performance matters most to me. After I've collect...

Re: NVidia and You(?) (complete with poll)

Folding@home is the only one. I also using my GTX 760 for gaming, but I don't play any games new enough to benefit from nVidia's constant tweaking for Direct3D, and there is a workaround for the one instance where new drivers would improve my OpenGL performance, so I prefer to use that workaround f...

Re: NVidia and You(?) (complete with poll)

I'm on Windows 7 x64 with a GTX 760 using driver 326.80, because the 33x series of drivers introduced a regression for OpenCL applications that cuts performance by 30 - 50% and was never fixed, as nVidia doesn't care about GK104 cards anymore. The only way to avoid the bug is to use a driver no late...

Trust me, do not upgrade to 364.xx! I'm still on 326.80 to avoid the OpenCL regression nVidia introduced more than two years ago now. It's disappointing to hear that they still haven't gotten their act together, as I was hoping to be done with these problems whenever I felt the desire to get a GPU ...

You might also want to check the scan logs of your antivirus program, if you have one. It might be taking a long time to scan DGIndexNV.exe and thus delaying the startup process. Re: (Shameless feature request) HEVC/H.265 10-bit Support

I would certainly hope dithering to 8 bits isn't part of the processing chain, as that rather negates the point of using 10 bits. Not only does a higher bit depth decrease banding artifacts, but it can result in up to 30% better compression, assuming the video has lots of flat blocks (e.g. animation).

If you want to use free software, AVIDemux can join clips, but audio sync could be problematic. Something like Video ReDo would probably be your best bet if you're willing to use payware.
