Re: Reset of DGIndexNV.ini?

1. It sets it to 0 in the .ini as expected. 2. Now I start DGIndexNV.exe. Enable Info Log is unchecked, as expected. 3. Now I close DGindexNV. The .ini is kept at 0, as expected. 4. Now I open DGIndexNV.exe, and the Enable Info Log is checked (as if the .ini was ignored) => unexpected 5. Now I close...

Re: Reset of DGIndexNV.ini?

No avail.
It seems that the .ini which is in the same folder as DGIndexNV.exe is re-created with default settings almost every time I start DGIndexNV.exe.

Re: Reset of DGIndexNV.ini?

Thanks both for checking. Strange, it happens here even when I start the DGIndexNV.exe directly, so it's not related to a file extension association as I wrote in the initial post. I can reproduce the issue with slipstream 107. I rolled back to version 103 and all is fine. So it seems to me that som...

[RESOLVED] Reset of DGIndexNV.ini?

Since the last splipstream (107) (or Win10 update?) certain settings (like demux audio, position of the Information panel, log file creation) are reset in the .ini whenever I launch DGIndecNV with a doubleclick on a .264 file (associated with DGIndexNV).
Has anyone seen this as well?

Re: Update Please

He he. The blue part was a bit of an inside joke. In my long life I eventually learned a few things about people and myself and I am still learning. I think everybody that is lucky enough to be smart, and that includes the vast majority of people that frequent video forums, goes through a cerebral ...

Re: CUDA Suggestions and Talk

My two cents on Sharc's comparison: For sure, QTGMC is the best. I don't see it doing especially better with detail retention, but rather better at avoiding artifacts in motion blur. Whether you can see anything significantly better when played at normal speed is debatable, and whether the improvem...

Re: CUDA Suggestions and Talk

More comparison: Not that it really matters in practice but you can see the bobbing artifacts around the drummer's (motion blurred) sticks around frame 850 or 1600, and the sharpness of the strings + shadows of the strings near Gilmour's right hand around frame 3000. QTGMC is shining, I think. http:...

Re: CUDA Suggestions and Talk

Looks like something is not working right. ;) OK, the VPP apparently wants its pitch to be mod 64. 1920 / 64 = 30, so it works fine. 1440 / 64 = 22.5, so it fails. I changed the VPP re-pitching to mod 64 and it fixes this issue. If you resize to width=1920 it also works without this fix. I'll slips...

What went wrong here? Look at the strong color ghosting for PVBob. The other bobbers are clean.....

Re: CUDA Suggestions and Talk

I redid the interleaved version of the bobber comparison. It's encoded with a higher bitrate now to reduce the impact of encoding artefacts which could mask the bobbing artefacts. Or just play the script directly to eliminate the influence of the re-encoding. (The encoding of of the 3-minutes clip t...

Re: CUDA Suggestions and Talk

Hmmm... thinking about it one has probably to be cautious with the interleaved version because of the way how the x264 encoder works. The picture sequence of the frames which are served to the encoder is different (4 x more or less the same picture in sequence). I was wondering why the first version...

Re: CUDA Suggestions and Talk

@Sharc, thanks for the comparison. I'll check it out after my breakfast. You can put a Trim(1,-0) on PVBob to get the frames matching up. Here the same in a different format for comparing the 4 bobbers. The outputs of the 4 bobbers are interleaved, so when you step through the clip you will immedia...

Re: DGDecomb

The typical mpeg2 artefacts are sometimes overruling (or masking) the deinterlacing/bobbing artefacts. But I agree the LeakKernel algorithm leaves more residual combing and swallows more details.

Re: DGDecomb

I did few more tests and found PVBob to be most similar to TDeint or LeakKernelBob. Could this be correct? I use a high-quality 1080i natural video called Cityscape that has a lot of edges and problematic scenes. I can upload it if you want it. I would appreciate if you could upload the Cityscape te...

Re: DGDecomb

@Sharc You have to be careful with that deint test file. The source version I have of it is not truly interlaced content. It is actually progressive shifted by one field so that field matching cleans it right up. Can you check that with your source? You are right! The source is indeed field shifted...

Re: DGDecomb

Thanks for the PVBob. I run first tests, and from what I have seen the results look promising. Just for fun I did a comparison for a synthetic (nasty pathalogical) source. Not that it is representative for any natural content, but regardless how irrelevant the source is for any typical use case it s...

Re: DGDecomb

I have to check again regarding softening/loss of details. It could be that the jaggies/pixels of DGTelecide left me with the impression of more details/sharpness. I need to find a better interlaced source .....
Anyway, DGBob is very good and looks very much the same (almost identical) as yadifmod2.

Re: DGDecomb

I compared DGBob(mode=0) with DGTelecide(mode=2,pthresh=0.0,dthresh=0.0). Doesn't DGTelecide in this case deinterlace the entirety of the frames unconditionally? Yes. I'll run some tests to see if I can see it too. If you don't see the difference I could upload a sample where the difference (jaggie...

Re: DGDecomb

DGBob (and yadif variants) deinterlaces the entirety of all frames without any checks, while DGTelecide uses a threshold to try to spare static areas of the frame. I compared DGBob(mode=0) with DGTelecide(mode=2,pthresh=0.0,dthresh=0.0). Doesn't DGTelecide in this case deinterlace the entirety of t...

Re: DGDecomb

DGTelecide vs DGBob for single-rate deinterlacing: DGBob produces significantly less jaggies (e.g. on nearly horizontal lines), but the picture seems to be a bit softer (loss of details) compared to DGTelecide. Is this observation basically correct? Is DGBob(mode=0) equivalent to DGBob(mode=1).selec...
