Re: Invalid license for DGIndexNV?

Are you using 2046 or 2047? I believe the licensing scheme changed in 2047, so you'll need to follow the instructions to generate a new license to use it. Your old license file won't work. I'm still using 2046, so I haven't explored the differences myself.

Re: Site URL changing

I'm glad you'll be sticking around here, as your tools are an invaluable resource for video enthusiasts. Thank you for continuing to maintain them, even if "the fray" at Doom9 has become too arduous. Regarding the first post, do you mean to say that the URL will become "rationalqm.us"? The main neur...

You should also still be able to target XP if you decide to use VS 2013, as long as you use .NET 4.0 or earlier. XP isn't supported on .NET 4.5 or higher.

To my knowledge Don doesn't operate an FTP drop. You have to provide your own hosting.

Re: Getting "Scan Lines" When Using fieldop

What's your full script? Are you using AviSynth 2.5 or 2.6? I'm using 2.6, which may or may not make a difference in this case.

Re: Getting "Scan Lines" When Using fieldop

I'll take a look at Telecide's debug to see how that works because I had not used this feature. It's a necessary step for determining what vthresh to use. You simply set: Telecide(post=3,show=true) to show Telecide's statistics and display the white motion map on the areas it thinks has combing. Th...

Re: Getting "Scan Lines" When Using fieldop

I assume you haven't done any processing on the video since it's still MPEG-2, but generally you need to post unprocessed source samples (VOB, in this case), rather than a remuxed MKV. Using Telecide, I was able to get rid of this: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img838/9930/1neq.jpg and instead get...

Re: Getting "Scan Lines" When Using fieldop

Have you tried downloading Decomb from the main site? Telecide ought to handle all of those problems.

Re: Processing PAL DVDs

Thanks for all the help. A few of the special features weren't progressive and needed cleanup, but the main episodes were fine.

Re: Processing PAL DVDs

You have to understand what DGIndexNV reports. It describes the encoding and not the content. It's crucial to understand that distinction. With that in mind, would I be correct in thinking that DGIndexNV is reporting the pulldown pattern used to convert the progressive content into interlaced forma...

Re: Processing PAL DVDs

As a follow-up, do the above benefits of Telecide also apply when DGIndexNV reports a Sequence of "Frame Only" and Field Order of "Progressive"? The main episodes on this DVD appear as Field/Frame with a TFF Field Order, but the special features appear as Sequence: Frame Only and Field Order: Progre...

Re: Processing PAL DVDs

Yes, I had skimmed the clip in VirtualDub to see if I could find any sections that had artifacts, but I couldn't find any, so it seemed like post=0 was safe for this clip. In the interest of making an informed decision, however, I decided to process the clip again with post=2 , and I discovered that...

Re: Processing PAL DVDs

Thank you for the information! I had a feeling Telecide's decision making ability would prove beneficial over the simple deinterlacing nVidia offers. Would I also be correct in assuming that Telecide is able to match the fields correctly even without post-processing enabled (as that's for ameliorati...

[RESOLVED] Processing PAL DVDs

I have a similar question to the recent discussion in the Best practice for deinterlacing 25FPS TS? thread, but I'm dealing with PS (VOB) from a DVD, rather than TS from HDTV, so a separate thread seemed appropriate. I've inspected the content of my DVD in VirtualDub without any deinterlacing, and I...

Re: Telecide guide=3 Questions

It is negligible in the perceptual sense that you could not tell the 0.1% difference in speed if you compared 23.976 to 24.0 for the same content, unlike e.g. the 4% speed difference that occurs when you increase 24.0 to 25.0 fps for film -> PAL conversions. I'm referring to whether the animation wo...

Re: Telecide guide=3 Questions

Thanks for the confirmation. The 0.1% slowdown of the audio would cause it to drift by 1 second every ~15 minutes if I increased the framerate to 25.0, so since I mux to Matroska instead of targetting formats such as DVD-Video or BDAV that require exactly 25.0 fps, I think I will leave it at 24.975....

Thanks for the reply. The recording device is a DVICo TViX, so I used its edit mode to cut a ~15 second sample from the original video (*.tp).

Telecide guide=3 Questions

I'm processing a video from a 1080i ATSC station that is telecined 25 -> 30 fps material. When I use Telecide(guide=3) to restore the progressive frames, I get the expected pattern of 5 "real" frames and 1 duplicate, which I can eliminate by using Decimate(cycle=6). This sets the framerate down to 2...

Re: Decomb vthresh Clarification

That's exactly opposite. The higher the vthresh, the more combed frames will pass through. That would explain the frame defects I was seeing when using a low vthresh value, then. They were the result of incorrectly decombing some progressive frames, which didn't happen when the vthresh was high. Pl...

Decomb vthresh Clarification

I'm trying to IVTC DVD content, but I'm having trouble understanding the best way to set the vthresh value. From what I can tell by taking screenshot comparisons and using post=3 and show=true, it's necessary to select a high enough vthresh value to detect all combed frames, as a value that's too lo...
