If the VPP is limited as you suggest, you'll have to re-pack things on the way up.

If you write:

int x = 256, y;
y = x % 0;

Your computer will explode. Don't do it!

It's no longer lossless to the source because frames were lost, nyuk? But then you'd not have these errors when decoding the THD straight off the disk. But the err...
