Hello colleagues.

Please, could someone advise me or has this happened to someone else?
I just got the Avatar: The Way of Water UHD disc. I did a mkv remux where I inserted sound and subtitles.
When listing media info, the sound has Dolby atmos 24bit.

The same thing when I do it in TSmuxer when composing a UHD disc, BDinfo tells me that it has Dolby Atmos 16bit.

Don't know what it could be?

The original disc has Dolby Atmos 24bit.

Could someone give me some advice?

thank you very much

When you open the disk in DGDemuxGUI and select the movie MPLS, what does it show for that track in the streams listing? If it shows 24-bit then that's pretty much it for DG stuff, and we'd have to look elsewhere. To help in that case we will need a complete description of your process.

Maybe Frankaboy can help, as he has recently been working with that disk. Let's see if he chimes in.

Welcome to the forum!

When I load the disk, it doesn't show how many bits it has. If 16 or 24.
As it progresses, I extract the Czech track from the Blu-ray and assemble it as a UHD disc in Tsmuxer.

BDInfo 0.7.5.6 on the USA UHD-BD says that the TrueHD/Atmos track is 24-bit, 4820 kbps.

EDIT: Which you mentioned in the first post and I missed.

But if the custom disc produced by tsmuxer shows up differently in BDInfo, that has to be something that tsmuxer is doing/changing. Does it report the same number of channels/objects/bitrate as the original disc?

Everything sounds the same except that it is 16-bit.
It's just that it's never happened to me before :( .

Extract the stream with DGDemux. Then run mediainfo on the demuxed stream. Does it show 24-bit? If so, then this is out of the range of DG tools support and you'll need to look into TSmuxer support.

You declined to give the full details of your process as I requested. So I only point out that Bluray requires THD to have the embedded AC3.

Hello TomasekB,
sorry for late reply.
I have checked the subject, and it is clearly related to tsmuxer.

First I have scanned my original Avatar Way of Water UHD disk, using BDInfo:
Avatar: The Way of Water (original disc)
MPEG-H HEVC Video: 2160p / 23.976 fps / 16:9 / Main 10 @ Level 5.1 @ High / 10 bits / HDR10 / BT.2020
Dolby TrueHD/Atmos Audio: 7.1 / 48 kHz / 24-bit (AC3 Embedded: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 640 kbps / DN -27dB)

Afterwards I have created a Bluray-ISO with latest version of tsmuxer,
using 00800.mpls and scanned the ISO, using BDInfo.
Avatar: The Way of Water (Bluray-ISO created with tsmuxer)
MPEG-H HEVC Video: 2160p / 23.976 fps / 16:9 / Main 10 @ Level 5.1 @ High / 10 bits / HDR10 / BT.2020
Dolby TrueHD/Atmos Audio: 7.1 / 48 kHz / 16-bit (AC3 Embedded: 5.1 / 48 kHz / 640 kbps / DN -27dB)

As you can see, I got the same result like you.

Your entry point should be the doom9 forum, where the maintainer of tsmuxer are located.
Hopefully they can fix the issue.

The other thing to remember is that this doesn't actually matter in any relevant way. All other metrics of the stream are still reported the same, particularly the bitrate, so it's not like the stream itself has actually been changed. Any decoder is still going to decode it exactly the same. There's no real reason to care what BDInfo or MediaInfo are reporting as the bit depth here aside from basic curiosity about that changing.

Hi TomasekB,
I have done another check.
I figured out, that both audio tracks
(means the track from original Way of Water disc in comparison
with the track from Bluray-ISO created with tsmuxer) has exactly the same file size.

That underlines the statement from SomeHumanPerson. :salute:

Possibly TSmuxer has written a wrong CLPI file when creating the disk structure. That would explain why the stream could be reported as 16-bit but actually still be 24-bit. Marking resolved as this clearly is not a DG tools issue.

Guys, thank you very much for your help and opinion. I also thought what he wrote, but I wanted to ask if I should be doing something stupid.
Thank you very much.

PS: I apologize for writing so early, but I was at work.

Never too early my friend TomasekB. You've exposed an interesting anomalous behavior in tsmuxer. The developers are duly informed. Thank you for your valuable report.

Sherman is still at school for another 45 minutes. :P
