DGDecIM beta 21

Post by admin »

DGDecIM beta 21 is now available:

* Rebuilt with Intel MSDK INDE 2015 Update 1 to solve some problem AVC stream decoding.

* Large resolutions such as 2160p are now supported.

I dont see any news about b50 available in news section:

Code: Select all

http://rationalqm.us/dgdecim/dgdecim_b50.zip
In Notes.txt is written:

Code: Select all

8. Deinterlacing (deinterlace > 0) is not yet supported.
Isnt this strange that b21 supports deinterlacing and b50 not? Do you have any changelog for b50 ? And why it has not been post in news section? :)

b21 supported deinterlacing but with some issues for double-rate (bobbing). The problem for b21 was that it generated spurious frames at the beginning of the stream (in all cases, not just for deinterlacing) and so did not match DGDecNV output. That is terrible for a filter that wants to claim frame accuracy! To fix that I had to replace the older Intel reference code for decoding/VPP with the newer one. But the newer one is not coded to support bobbing and there is no Intel sample that demonstrates that. The new Intel reference code was apparently written by clueless interns, and forget getting escalated to a competent engineer if you are not an OEM. I asked at the Intel forum and they told me I am on my own. I have not yet been able to make it work. Single-rate works and I could re-enable it. I am debating doing that but for now all deinterlacing is disabled. Do you need single-rate or double-rate?

Another relevant point is that enabling deinterlacing causes a major hit to performance, unlike DGDecNV deinterlacing.

I need to make a change log and news item. Thanks for pointing it out.

Still disabled. I can't see getting motivated on this anytime soon. Let's see how Skylake and the new drivers pan out before investing any more time into IMSDK.

OK thank you.
Does it now deserve it's own topic in the main forum ?

I don't see enough interest to justify it. And nothing has improved regarding Intel support.

Oh dear.
Well ... you have put time and effort into it ... and could that maybe be interest enough ? :)

I was just looking into deinterlacing today. No promises, but I don't have much else to do right now.

As to the forum, the answer is definitely yes or no, but I'm not sure which. :?
