clarification about fault-tolerant video/audio processing

Post by hydra3333 »

Hello.

Per
https://rationalqm.us/board/viewtopic.p ... 382#p16382
https://videoredo.net/msgBoard/index.ph ... ost-136239

The owner of VideoReDo has passed away and the main developer is seeking another job.
It seems almost certain that VideoReDo will cease to operate and/or be re-installable possibly even in the very near future.

(1) I and probably others use VRD's QSF functionality to "clean" over-the-air TV captures such as mpeg-2/4 in .TS containers and remove/fix what turns out to be frequent glitches and produce a clean video file ready for other processing for example by ffmpeg. Such glitch cleaning seems to address audio sync loss etc.

(2) VRD audio is great for joining video files and for smart easy editing which re-encodes video/audio around cut points.

I admit to not being clear how fault-tolerant DGindexNV et al are and could perhaps somehow be used for a similar purpose to (1), although given audio is not addressed (I think) I suspect it cannot be.
Could someone please clarify, and maybe also suggest tools or even links to suggestions for doing (1) ?
And (2) :)

Thanks

One with the Lord. :salute: Levi

Dan Rosen one with the divine. VideoDo one with the ages.

There's no clean-up functionality and none is contemplated. Maybe ask about this at other more general forums.

I'm too busy trying not to form a metal image of cancelling Natasha's tidy ass to think about a moose's toes.

Dan Haddix:
On Monday I start a new job. At that point I'm going to cease all involvement with VideoReDo.

There is still a chance that Dan's wife could sell the company and that VideoReDo could be revived in some form, but if that happens it will likely be without my involvement.

I have worked on VideoReDo for the past 16 years. It has been a fantastic chapter in my life. But I have to move on.

Thank you all for being loyal users and supporting this product that we put so much hard work into. I wish you all the best.

Thank you for the update! And good luck to Dan H.

I was thinking how we need a dead-man's switch for DG closed-source code.

Yes to DanH.

DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT LOSING DG !! THIS UNIVERSE IS A VERY CONNECTED PLACE.
Having flagged that, at face value it seems like a good idea.

Due to circumstances I won't go into, my doc gave me a reasonable guess of when to do most of a bucket list by, so I drafted and made relevant documentation (on where stuff is and how to do things) available to the family ;) Much will get lost, but such is life said Ned Kelly (fictionally).
We blink and then we're gone :)
But, while we're here we can enjoy !

This is a race in which I do not want to beat DG :D
