NV benefit to upgrading video card ?

Post by hydra3333 »

Hello. I have an old 8800GT.
Is there any benefit (speed or other) to NV tools mepeg2 decoding, from upgrading to say a 650 ?
I really do like it here.

And if you get a VP5 card it will be much faster.

Hello. Saved and saved and eventually, today bought a gigabyte 750 ti "black edition" (it was all they had left in the shop and I could not resist it).
I will mainly use it for NV tools decoding of mpeg2 TV captures (and a few mp4s on occasion).

Does anyone know of links showing comparisons of mpeg2 decoding, between 8800GT and 750ti ?
I really do like it here.

I don't think you'll find anyone who has done such a comparison, because it's assumed that the result will be perceptually identical. The whole point of having compression standards is that anyone who follows the reference specification can encode compatible streams that will be decompressed the same way in every decoder implementation.

Probably it is the decoding FPS that is being asked about.
