Feature request: DGIndex command line option START-END

Post by Selur »

Would be nice if the command line interface of DGIndex could be extended a bit to allow a start-end selection during stream extraction.

Background I mainly use DGIndex through the command line to:
a. create a .d2v file
and
b. extract the audio
which works fine, it just gets really annoying if I only want a specific chapter from the DVD. When using the GUI I can easily set a start and end point, for audio extraction and d2v range, sadly atm. there is no such option for the command line interface.
Assuming this shouldn't be hard to add would be nice if this could be added. :)

Thanks for thinking about it!

What syntax would you want to set the range, and how would you know the right values to use?

What syntax would you want to set the range,
For example:
--startpos X
--endpos Y
with either X,Y either hh:mm:ss.zzz or a frame number
how would you know the right values to use?
I either extract specific chapters or specific scenes (where I know the start and end time codes and frame numbers), the infos are either created manually or by using mediainfo/mplayer.

To do that I would have to make DGIndexNV frame accurate, and you'd have to run an indexing pass. It's something I have thought about but it's a big job.

Okay, would be nice to have this feature just for DGIndex itself, but having it in all the indexing tools would be even greater. :)

No hurry, if it's too much of a hassle to implement it any time soon, no problem.
Just wanted to mention that it would be a nice feature to have.
