[RESOLVED] 3D sde by side with NV

Post by UncleBob »

Hi,

I've got two h264 streams for left anf right eye respectively. Is there any way to process and combine them side-by-side with NV features?

Cheers

Open each one with a DGSource() instance and then combine the decoded streams as desired using Avisynth.

If you have a valid stream that cannot be opened then you need to provide a sample that I can use to duplicate the problem.

Also, "cannot be opened" is too vague. What error message do you get?

It's a valid stream, but I guess it's dgindex doesn't support MVC streams?

Error messages as follows:

Code: Select all

Hit Yes to continue notifying this specific error type; hit No to disable it.
Hit Cancel to suppress all further errors.

How do you prefer me to cut a piece of stream?

The easiest way I have found is to use admin's own dgsplit, which allows you to cut according the the clip size you want (or need, as in my case to make the file small cuz uploading is slow).

Just make sure after you've cut the file that the resulting clip still shows the problem!

Here's de first 5MB chunk of the stream... BTW I have extracted it from ssif with meGUI's HD Stream Extractor. And by the way I'm able to make it working with avs script using H264StereoSource.dll plugin. Unfotunately it's 32bit only, too slow and can crash randomly, so that's not making me a big fan of this thing, opposite to DGMultiSource, which I just can't stop loving

Ouch, barely forgot the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?e0z9zlu102qdlrj

Yes, indeed. CUVID does not support MVC (yet). I'll mark this resolved as there is nothing I can do to help.

Add me to the list of people who don't believe this. At all! Even if you set-aside all the tricks you have to play to experience it (special theaters, glasses, HT gear, headache & anti-nausea drugs) the only movies I've seen so far to employ it are kid's programs (you mean Avatar is NOT a kid's program?).

:P

Maybe the new "Titanic" release will demonstrate that 3D can make some sense for mainstream movies that people will actually want to see, but until then I remain extremely skeptical of it. Another money-grab from Hollywood & equipment manufacturers that *this* early adopter is gonna resist like hell!

Muahaha. :D

Let's hope this 3D nonsense will eventually go down the same road as 8-Track and Betamax.
You may hope this but beware:

3D sport matches or documentaries over 3D TV broadcast,
3D porn,
3D movies are already here; admit or not. :D Being a late adaptor will decrease the cost, sure.
Just hold on. :D

I just cannot believe that something that requires you to wear bulky dark sunglasses to watch TV has any chance of widespread adoption. But I'll "hold on" and see.

And don't forget 3D games

I'm not gonna say that I love 3D much, at least there's too much 3D rubbish in production, but in general 3D is something different, it's fun...

Those dark glasses are not sunglasses; they seem just stupid. You will loose just 10 % of the brightnesss. And Free-Tv is on the way without glasses.

Perhaps because sometimes "new" technologies don't bring anything positive or comfortable with them? I love clear picture and good sound quality too but when it comes
to current "3D" I feel the same as admin and many others. There's just too much trouble and discomfort to use it in home environment easily. I mean watching 3D doesn't
provide richer or nicer experience to me yet, only headaches and nausea so why bother and invest money at all?

My involvement with CUDA/CUVID belies that sentiment, it seems to me.

Given what has been said in this thread, would I be right in assuming that software such as PowerDVD uses its own proprietary CUDA kernel to decode MVC on the GPU?
