[RESOLVED] Should DGDecNV work with Nvidia NVS 4200M?

Hi all,

My video card doesn't appear on either of the lists on the DGDecNV page (http://rationalqm.us/dgdecnv/dgdecnv.html) - does anyone know if it will work with my Nvidia NVS 4200M? According to Nvidia, it does have CUDA (Compute Capability 2.1, whatever that is), and also PureVideo (http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvs_techspecs). It sounds to me like it should work, but could anyone confirm it?

Oh yeah, it also has Nvidia Optimus - there's an Intel HD GPU in there too, and the computer switches between them as needed - that shouldn't interfere with DGDecNV, should it?

Thanks,

David

Link here says it has VP4 so it should be good to go as long as you can run recent drivers.

Thanks for the info - I went ahead and got a license, and it works perfectly.

You're one of the few guys with the kick-ass VP5. I hate you. :(

I have a GT 520 ordered. When it gets in this week I'll compare its performance to my GTX 560 Ti. It may be everything an encoder needs. :D With its $50 price tag it could be awesome. If there are certain profiles or test I should do, please let me know

The first one I found at newegg is MSI's and with a $20 rebate is only $36 bucks. I'm not sure how one might go wrong with this card?

I've been happy with my now-ancient 9600GT but maybe since acquiring my 2650x1600 display I should spend 5% more and get a new card...!

Hmmm there are 6 or 7 cards around that price range, and the only spec difference is "Effective Memory Clock". Does anyone know, or can speculate, what if anything that means to performance?

 Can it do anything special, or is it just faster than VP4?

You must not have looked at the doom9 thread, and Anon17's post there wrt DGDecNV framerates/benchmark:

Now we all want a card with VP5!

Quite right. I do keep an eye on the released CUVID header files. Any new exposed functionality would be reflected there.
