[RESOLVED] Video not decoded (on 520)
[RESOLVED] Video not decoded (on 520)
Hello.
I've the following issue.
First, you can get the dgi result file and the first 100MB of the file here : http://jpsdr.free.fr/XBMC/00000.rar
If possible, please get the file asap and tell me when retrieve, that i can delete it.
Issue :
Video is black, when i play i have 3fps, and panel said video is 5h long (instead of around 24mn).
I've for now negated a decrypt issue, because :
- BR are "old", more than one year.
- I've used the last version of anydvd 7.0.6.0.
- The .m2ts file plays fine in mpc-hc.
Thanks.

Re: Video not decoded.
I have it, you can delete it.
I see no problem here, either in DGIndexNV or when serving the script to VirtualDub. You haven't told me where the problem occurs and I have no idea what "panel" means. You also haven't told me your graphics card and driver.
Please give me a step-by-step to create your problem.
Let me guess...you have a 520. Try a hard power down of your system.

Re: Video not decoded.
It works fine with my 460 but fails as you describe with my 520.
I'll have to ask nVidia about this.

Re: Video not decoded.
You guess right...
I have a 520 for the speed of the last engine.
The "panel" is the panel information from DGIndex wich provides stream informations.
Good : You can reproduce, so things are on their way.
"Bad" : If it's nVidia related, how long it can take to be solved, and include in a future release...
I'm not using them, but i've seen there's been two beta versions of nVidia drivers since last official stable release.
Do you use them ? Or have you try them ?
Lucky option would be issue is already fixed in the beta version...

Re: Video not decoded.
I just sent the stream and explanation to my contact at nVidia. Their support has been stellar in the past so let's see what the diagnosis is.
I run 301.42 and have not tried any other drivers, beta or otherwise.

Re: Video not decoded.
A quick google search reveals we are not the only ones running into this. Still reading and looking for answers...
Re: Video not decoded.
I'm also using 301.42. So, wait and see...
If i've time, and situation has not evolved, maybe this WE i'll try beta 304.79.

Re: Video not decoded.
I tried 304.79 beta and DGDecNV now seems to work fine with my 520, but it broke WinTV. ArcSoft ShowBiz is still OK though. I'll try reinstalling WinTV and see what happens. It's a beta so problems not unexpected, but it's good to know that nVidia apparently has a fix for this.
Re: Video not decoded.
Good to know. As on this PC DGindex is probably the only software using the card (i mean other than display), i think i'll try sooner this beta version, to be able to continue my work.
Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the information.
Re: Video not decoded.
nVidia confirmed that the beta fixes a known 520/Kepler decode issue.
I'm still trying to get WInTV working again. I'm not sure it was caused by this new beta yet.

Re: Video not decoded.
OK, WinTV is working again after uninstall/reinstall. Previously I was just reinstalling. The uninstall apparently cleaned up stuff.
It seems I can trust my 520 now. I had seen issues before but no-one else reported them and so I thought it was a system/HW issue on my end.

Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
I spoke too soon. Now the 520 is broke again!
WIll try another reinstall of 304.79.
EDIT: Reinstall changed nothing. Back over to nVidia for analysis.

Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
Thanks for these informations, i'll try this evening to install 304.79 on the PC i'm working video on.
Just a little question : Do i need to redo the dgi files, or are they fine, and issue was purely a display problem, wich has no effect on the analysis/dgi generation ?

Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
You do not need to remake the DGI files.
Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
Ok, so as said in mail : No luck...
304.79 didn't work for me neither under WinXP SP3 nor WinXP64 SP2.
File is not decoded, and still behave the same.
If you have possibility to feedback this information to nVidia.

Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
Can you check with DXVA in another app? I can't do it because my 520 is the secondary adapter and I can't see how to make MPC-HC use the secondary.
Any possibility to check with Win7?

Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
I could check it on my Win7 x64 with GT520 but the sample at http://jpsdr.free.fr/XBMC/00000.rar is no longer availableneuron2 wrote:Can you check with DXVA in another app? I can't do it because my 520 is the secondary adapter and I can't see how to make MPC-HC use the secondary.

Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
.... Probably, i've to figure out how to do that... Not with MPC-HC + ffmpeg because i don't install the dxva part of ffmpeg.neuron2 wrote:Can you check with DXVA in another app? I can't do it because my 520 is the secondary adapter and I can't see how to make MPC-HC use the secondary.
If you have a simple way you can tell me to test it with mpc-hc, i can test.
No, my video pc have only XP, and will have it as long as it will be possible.neuron2 wrote:Any possibility to check with Win7?
One of the several reasons is that i'm not sure that... everything... ... will continue to work under Win7.
kypec : I've removed the file (as said in the begining), but i can put it back this evening. In that case, you'll get it asap and tell me when done, that i can delete it.
Edit : I've put back the file. Notify me asap you've get it.
Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
In MPC-HC, in Options/Internal Filters, enable H.264/AVC [DXVA]. When playing, the bottom right of the window should show Playing [DXVA].
Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
Ok.
I usualy disable several internal things in mpc-hc, to let haali splitter+ffdshow handle the most of it.
I'll test it this evening (for me => in several hours).

Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
Test results with 304.79.
MPC-HC DXVA : Works, no issue.
Indeed, i've been able to make it works with DGIndexNV, but... you have for that before to open a "true working" m2ts file.
While you have not load at least one "working" file with DGIndexNV, the file is not working even if you try several times.
Once it begins to work, it seems to always work, even if you reboot the PC.
But, of course, if you switch Off the PC, when you switch it back on, you are again in the begining situation.

Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
Can you please post a link to a "true working" file that I can use to duplicate your results?
Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
Never mind, I have found one in my test streams database, and I have duplicated your result!
This is quite astounding, and gives us hope for a fix. Thank you, jpsdr, for this crucial observation.
Here is the "true working" stream that I used:
http://rationalqm.us/misc/fix520.mts
After loading this, loading your problematic stream works fine.

Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
Hmm, I just did a power cycle and it remained working. Looks like nVidia has some uninitialized variable in the 520 case. Investigation continues...
Re: Video not decoded (on 520)
Hey, jpsdr, do you reliably fail after a power down? If so I want to give you a special build that waits longer between opening the decoder and decoding the first frame.
I would try it but I have been unable to get the failure state to occur again.
