[RESOLVED] Geforce 940M not working

i got myself dgdecnv 2051 and it does not work on my notebook with my geforce 940m. i also tried it on my desktop with a Geforce GT 520. On my desktop there's no problem with it.

i also got some information about my notebook system:

i've got 2 graphic card:

GeForce 940M and Intel HD Graphics 5500. i guess this could be the problem.

You told me "it does not work" and that is all. Can you give me some more information, please? Error messages? Crash?

That's weird to see the strange string for the device ID. I'll look into that.

okay, sorry! error message on dgindexnv is "GPU decoder: Failed to create video decoder [100]. Exiting..." if there is any crash or log file tell me and i will add this as well.

Some possibilities:

The nVidia driver version is too old. Try to install the latest one.

Disable the Intel graphics in the BIOS.

What kind of file is it? What video format?

nvidia driver should be the latest one. my nvidia geforce experience program tells me so.

i disabled the intel graphics on the device manager. that did not work, but i'll try to do this in the BIOS. i will edit this post when it's done.

Disabling in the BIOS probably won't change anything.

Another thing to do is check whether some other CUVID-enabled apps work or not.

Also, you can try setting D3D mode and then set all the decode modes to DXVA (both done in the INI file).

i changed some things and nothing worked! (open with graphic processor, set nvidia geforce as standard, disabling the onboard intel hd graphics via device manager) i got a new driver from the nvidia homepage. don't know if that's the reason that dgindexnv doesn't crash anymore. it starts but without a video stream. just a black window but sound works. i can create a *.dgi file but as i said without video. i have to say that my system crashed 3 times since i installed the latest drivers.

btw: i can't find any graphic settings in BIOS/UEFI. there are just some infos and settings about rooting. it took me about the whole evening and i'm still on the same level. i don't know what else i could do.

I asked what file you have but you didn't answer. If it is a transport stream, you may have the PID wrong. What is the type of your file and what video format does it have?

it's a transport stream with h264 content.

but the pid should not be the problem. everything that does not work on my notebook does work on my desktop. the transport stream is trimmed with videoredo tv suite.

Also, please clarify...do you see the black screen in DGIndexNV or only when serving your script. If the latter, what is your script?

sorry, there was no time on christmas days. i'll try now. but i can'T find a way to change the direct3d settings. what *.ini-file does you mean?

i found out that my geforce and the intel graphics seem to use the same gpu. i guess this could be the fact why it won't work?!?

There is a file called DGIndexNV.ini in the same directory as DGIndexNV.exe.

Edit that file so that these lines read as follows:

UseD3D=1
...
Decode_Modes=2,2,2,2

Then start DGIndexNV.exe and see what happens.

is there a way to tell dgindex which device it should use? my device id seemed to be a bit strange. "10DE:" and then some hieroglyphics. i looked into the device manager and it should be 1347 if i'm right?!?



and the other thing that is strange: when i disable my intel graphics via device manager the display does not change to my nvidia but to the "Microsoft Basic Display Driver"

It seems that the nVidia driver is not even being used! That would explain everything, but it is outside my tools. I recommend that you start looking into that. Also check with nVidia forums, etc.
