[RESOLVED] "No video sequence header found"

Post by TCmullet »

The last time I used DGDecNV was in May 2016, version 2049. I now try it with a new bunch of M2TS files and it gives me this error on every file. I did retrieve a newer 2049, but still has the error. (I want to proceed with upgrades to 2052 slowly; I'm cautious, esp. as I had failed to subscribe to the "binaries updates thread" til now.)

The only thing I can think of that's different is that I upgraded from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 since May.

That error string is not present in my code! Did you paraphrase it?

Please give me a sample stream that does this and I will look into it.

It's possible that the video PID is being wrongly detected. You can try looking at Detect PIDS: Raw, identifying the video PID, and setting it manually. If this is the case, I would want to fix the PID detection, so again, please provide a stream.

What is a good way to get it to you? (I must first create a very small sample file.)

Cut it with DGSplit first 50MB. Upload to mega.nz and post the link here. If you know how to use FTP I can give you access details for my server.

There are numerous other upload sites. Just pick one that you like.

For a few days, I can leave it on my own server. (I did try mega, but it's "still uploading" after I've finished with FileZilla to my own server. Right-click and save this M2TS file.

http://www.tomsgoodfiles.com/2016-08-26 ... .frag.M2TS

The exact message is:

"No video sequence header found!" and it has a red background X to the left.

The title to the message box says "Error".

Thank you for providing the test stream.

OK, that error is present in DGIndex but not DGIndexNV!

Are you trying to open AVC streams in DGIndex? That only supports MPEG2. You need DGIndexNV. Perhaps you are accidentally using DGIndex when you meant to use DGIndexNV.

Your stream works fine in DGIndexNV.

HA HA HA! Yes, I only looked for the icon and "DG" something when I started to get this new project going. I didn't see til now that the NV one was in the next icon row down. Oh, I have a DGIndex too? It's for Mpeg2 files? I forgot my whole experience with it which must have been very short for reasons unknown.

When I tried the correct program, it came back with the familiar "japanese girl" drawing (the one with eyes drawn as big as her ears). When I opened any file, it says "Invalid license!" Do you have THAT text in your code? I have several machines licensed, at least the last time I was running. (May 2016 or so.)

The licensing scheme changed at some point.

Here's what you need to do:

-----
I am now managing activation with an on-line license generator.

Your user ID is [check your original activation email]

For access to the binaries, first retrieve the access credentials using this link:

http://rationalqm.us/binaries.html

Then use this link to retrieve your binaries using the credentials you obtained:

http://rationalqm.us/dgdecnv/binaries/

To make your license key, go to this page and follow the instructions there:

http://rationalqm.us/licensing.html

A support forum is available here:

index.php

Please record these links and your user ID and then if you need
additional license numbers for additional machines, just generate
the licenses you need using the license generator.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT MAKING LICENSES: Please be aware of the following
guideline to avoid exhausting your license count.

1. Do not make new licenses for the same machine ID. It is not necessary to
make a new license with every new program release.

2. If you have more than one machine, you will have different machine IDs.
To allow for having only one common license.txt file,
you can make one license for each machine ID you encounter and
ADD them all to the SAME license.txt file, one per line. Then the correct one
will be used automatically on each machine. This makes it easier to manage
your licenses e.g., by backing up your single license.txt file.

Will I be replacing the long license strings for each PC? I have one file that has all of them in it and I keep a copy on each PC.

A related questions is, am I "starting over from scratch" generating new licenses as though I had never had any??

Yes, you need new keys for each machine and you can put them all in one file as before.

Your license count maximum is now 16 and has been reset to zero.

Somehow, you are mistaken. I just now ran the generator for the first "new" time. It came back with:

"Found user [deleted] with 5 existing license IDs.
Thank you, your new license number for machine ID 400AB6DF is:"
(followed by the new string)

I'm not worried about running out yet, but you did say it had been reset to zero. Now I have 5 bad ones and 1 good one. Can you erase the 5 bad ones? Let me know if you want to clear out all 6 and have me start over. I was looking forward to it saying to me "...with 0 existing license IDs".

Okay, now things are gummed up worse, but probably not fatally so. My immeditely prior message was predicated ib that I'm running v2049. (I think it's the latest of more than one 2049 version.)

After licensing, I ran a test against my first recent video. It was a timing test. After logging the duration, I proceeded with my plan to step by step upgrade to each new version and time it. I vaguely remember something about a speedup. I wanted to find it empirically, hence my plan to do a run with my existing 2049, then put in 2050, then 2051, and finally the current 2052.

However, after copying in 2050, now my one new license is invalid! (But the system thinks it's my 6th one, as per my immediately prior post.)

I'm at a point where I must proceed, and as I'm hopefully WAY below the 16 limit, this should not harm me. I'm going to issue a 2nd (or 7th) license to myself now.

I assumed since you hadn't used the tool for a long time that you had not used it since I reset everyone to 0. But apparently you have used 5 licenses after that time. Look, the existing threads describe all of this very well. As I have said many times, I will reset anyone back to 0 if they run out (and they are not re-selling my licenses). So don't worry about it!

There is no need to laboriously go through the versions. Just update directly to the latest version. It is highly stable, has lots of new functionality (including the indexing speedup), and lots of bug fixes. Just download the latest version, test it, and if is OK for you, you're done. If not, tell me what the problem is and I will address it straight away. But I don't anticipate you having any issues. There's no need to look for changes empirically as it is all documented in the Changes.txt file.

Finally, you published your user ID for the world to see. I have deleted it but it may be too late, so if you suddenly find all 16 licenses exhausted you'll have to ask me very nicely to help you with that. It's like sharing your serial number for other software, not a cool thing and developers get very upset about it.

Good luck with your projects using the latest version!
