I don't know anything about the 1060 or whether it should support HW decoding of HEVC UHD HDR.
According to https://developer.nvidia.com/video-enco ... ort-matrix matrix, 1060 supports 4k.

I have tested hw decoding with LAV Filters and no problems at all, both with 4k HDR and 1080p HEVC.

I'll see what I can find about that. Meanwhile, does it fail on all such disks or just this one? Does it open other HEVC streams?
No problems with 1080p. For 4K, I will ask my friend another BD to have a try.

Can you upload the first M2TS of one of them to my FTP? Thanks.

Are you running standard or DCH drivers?

Please tell your card manufacturer, model no, amount of memory, etc.

Please give nVidia driver version.

Are you powering the card properly and your power supply is adequate?

I did the 1st GB for both. M2TS is 60 GB each. If you need, anyway, I will.

Yes. Corsair AX800i is more than enough.

gtx 1080 ti
but drivers, etc could be compared
And in terms of H265 4:2:0 they have the same capabilities.

I "downgraded" from Microsoft Insider provided Nvidia drivers (435.27) to latest hotfix from Nvidia (431.68) and DGIndexNV works with 4k HDR

At this point I don't know if it's a problem of future Nvidia driver architecture or what.

The strange thing is that cuvid works ok with both drivers in LAV Filters HW decoding.

@admin feel free to investigate more or not. Perhaps problem will come back when 435.* will become widely available.

P.S: As far as I understood, DGIndexNV saves HDR information into DGI file. How am I supposed to manage it to encode with x265 and get encoded 4K with same HDR metadata? Any AviSynth template or x265 command line are welcome.

I'll put the issue on hold and revisit it if and when issues arise with official drivers. I'm wondering if it is finally time to move to a later CUDA toolkit (contains the CUVID headers). Perhaps that explains the discrepancy between LAV and DG here. The problem is that if we upgrade we'll lose support for a boatload of earlier not-so-old cards.

The other forum is more suitable for your encoding questions.

435.80 pre release driver. All flavor included.

Tested with DGIndexNV and same issue for 4k source.

I'll try it on my backup machine and if the problem occurs I'll report it.

Where are you getting the links for this stuff?

I confirm that these 435.xx drivers are broken for both 1080Ti and 2080Ti. I don't know why LAV is working. I tried CUDA toolkit 8.0 and it made no difference.

Meanwhile I got hosed temporarily by Windows. I updated to latest 1903 stuff and it converted my system to DCH, so I had to do DDU clean-up and then install 431.70 DCH driver on my 2080Ti system.

Get used to it
DCH drivers are the new norm for OEMs
Hardware (systems) and software (OS)
Every major win 10 update might do it, and maybe even some smaller ones
Boy, am I happy I shut down automatic Windows Updates

Nah, just tired of Microsoft deciding what is best for me and borking my system
Point is that MS will attempt to install DCH drivers every so often, even if you don't want them

Just read some interesting things
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers ... ows-10-faq
and if NVidia control panel is missing
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/nvidi ... verviewtab
Might happen when you uninstal the DCH driver

I am on the Insider bandwagon since alpha version and never got DDU updates on Nvidia. Perhaps because I use enterprise version only.
