I'll try it on my backup machine and if the problem occurs I'll report it.

Where are you getting the links for this stuff?

I confirm that these 435.xx drivers are broken for both 1080Ti and 2080Ti. I don't know why LAV is working. I tried CUDA toolkit 8.0 and it made no difference.

Meanwhile I got hosed temporarily by Windows. I updated to latest 1903 stuff and it converted my system to DCH, so I had to do DDU clean-up and then install 431.70 DCH driver on my 2080Ti system.

Get used to it
DCH drivers are the new norm for OEMs
Hardware (systems) and software (OS)
Every major win 10 update might do it, and maybe even some smaller ones
Boy, am I happy I shut down automatic Windows Updates

Nah, just tired of Microsoft deciding what is best for me and borking my system
Point is that MS will attempt to install DCH drivers every so often, even if you don't want them

Just read some interesting things
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers ... ows-10-faq
and if NVidia control panel is missing
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/nvidi ... verviewtab
Might happen when you uninstal the DCH driver

I am on the Insider bandwagon since alpha version and never got DDU updates on Nvidia. Perhaps because I use enterprise version only.

If you're an insider please report the issue.

I wonder if LAV is silently falling back to SW or DXVA.

What issue? To me not having UWP drivers is a pleasure :D

LAV filter shows which decoder it uses and it tells cuvid.

Failure to create the decoder is not an issue? And what is a UWP driver? You're baffling me here. Please explain thoroughly.

I am a Microsoft Insider member, not Nvidia :?

UWP drivers is the "same" as DCH.

AFAIK Nvidia DCH (UWP) control panel has to be downloaded from Microsoft Store.

Yes, that is one of the links, but sometimes the normal control panel doesn't get installed after a DCH uninstall and standard install.
Or at least that is what I gathered from reading some of posts on the issue. I might have misread though

What version of LAV and what player are you using? I aim to duplicate your case.

MPC-BE (x64 flavor, just remember to disable internal filters) and LAV Filters latest nightly but I think stable ones should work too.

Thank you.

How do I disable internal filters and why?

View >> Options >> Internal Filters
The why?
If they are not disabled, MPC will use the internal filters and not the external LAVF

Some builds of 435.27 were broken

Also note that these prerelease drivers were released 2 months ago
Official drivers are still on 431.xx

4k decoding still broken on DGIndexNV. Working with Lav Filters on cuvid.
