[RESOLVED] Encoding Speed

Post by VidFan » Thu Dec 26, 2019 11:48 pm

Hi. I'm downgrading from a VP6 card to a VP5 card. I was wondering if the VP number or anything else effects the encoding speed? I'm only using DGDecNV to index a video which I then encode with x264 and AviSynth.

It won't affect encoding per se, because you do not use the HW encoding of NVEnc. It will affect the decoding speed, which affects the overall transcoding speed, but this will be a very small effect as the overall speed is dominated by the SW encoding.

Why are you downgrading your card? Makes more sense to upgrade it. ;)

Thanks. I'm giving an old card to someone else.
