[RESOLVED] Incorrect report of frame count

Post by crasus »

Dear admin,

It so happens that sometimes after demuxing the .h264 from a Bluray with eac3to (latest) I see a certain number of frames in the log (say 128540) and after indexing with dgdecnv 2037 (and other versions in the past) I see another number in its log (say 128526).

I tryied to index the said file (along with others from very different Blurays but with the same situation under 2037) with older DGIndexNV versions.

I tested with almost all recent versions. From 2021 to 2037, the DGIndexNV log showed a different frame count than eac3to. BUT! 2020 popped up the correct frame number. So, I searched around the web for more and came across DGDecNV 2012 and tried that as well. Yet again, the correct number of frames. It would seem that the problem started with 2021.

Do let me know, what I might do to help pinpoint this possible issue. All the very best and warmest for your excellent software (which saved me time ... more than once!) and good luck with future development.

Warmly,
Crasus

P.S. : For reference, Win7 x64 with GT 460 and the latest eac3to.

You'll have to be specific. Tell me what bluray so I can get it and reproduce the issue.

OK, I have ordered the third one.

In the meantime I can try some of my blurays. Please tell me the exact version of eac3to, where to get it, and your exact command line.

I tested on Ride with the Devil (Criterion Collection):

EAC3TO: 213969 frames
DGDecNV: 213970 frames

I will have to wait for the DVD to arrive to duplicate your issue.

Hmm, looks like only the Info dialog count is wrong.

Ok, it is just the Info dialog. I have found and fixed the problem (Info dialog missed the final update at the end of file). The fix will be in the next release. Until then, use the count at the bottom of the DGI file.

Just returned home and tested the 2038 version. Frame count & Full INFO dialog work like a charm.

Thank you very much, admin, for taking the time to look into this and issue such a quick fix. Much appreciated! :D

FWIW, I too have found that occasionally eac3to gets the frame count wrong (I've only ever seen it off by one as your example). Dunno what that's about as otherwise it seems always to work as it should.

Thanks DG for the new version. It works good! :)
