[RESOLVED] 1917 THD

Post by Guest 2 »

I have just received my copy of 1917 BD (stongly advised).

I have tried to demux eng and ita THD and I get 3 different file size from DGIndexNV, DGDemux and eac3to. Funny.

2.555.362.232 [eng] DGDemux.thd
2.588.329.264 [eng] DGIndexNV.thd
2.675.189.696 [eng] eac3to.thd
2.615.898.146 [ita] DGDemux.thd
2.649.365.358 [ita] DGIndexNV.thd
2.744.391.738 [ita] eac3to.thd

As it's almost impossible to get time lenght from THD, I have converted to flac by FFMPEG (latest nightly):

for /R %%a in (*.thd) do ffmpeg.exe -i "%%a" "%%~na.flac"

DGIndexNV THD files gives me lot of

"Error while decoding stream #0:0: Invalid data found when processing input
[truehd @ 000001ad3b392940] substream 0 length mismatch"

plus

[truehd @ 000001ad3b392940] restart header sync incorrect (got 0x1ce5)
Error while decoding stream #0:0: Invalid data found when processing input

again

[truehd @ 0000028bacfc61c0] Lossless check failed - expected 91, calculated 12.

and

[truehd @ 000001ad3b392940] Negative output_shift is not implemented. Update your FFmpeg version to the newest one from Git. If the problem still occurs, it means that your file has a feature which has not been implemented.
[truehd @ 000001ad3b392940] If you want to help, upload a sample of this file to https://streams.videolan.org/upload/ and contact the ffmpeg-devel mailing list. (ffmpeg-devel@ffmpeg.org)

DGDemux THD files almost same errors but a bit less.

Eac3to THD files gives no error while converting to flac.

Results:

1.853.311.212 [eng] DGDemux.flac lenght: 1:53:27
1.872.646.197 [eng] DGIndexNV.flac lenght: 1:55:26
1.938.838.735 [eng] eac3to.flac lenght: 1:59:25
1.851.170.572 [ita] DGDemux.flac lenght: 1:53:25
1.871.618.937 [ita] DGIndexNV.flac lenght: 1:54:55
1.941.325.926 [ita] eac3to.flac lenght: 1:58:53

The movie lenght is 1:58:54 so I think that the eac3to files output are more accurate.

Then I tried to directly convert with eac3to from THD to flac.

Results:

1.910.561.822 [eng] direct eac3to.flac lenght: 1:59:25
1.907.298.301 [ita] direct eac3to.flac lenght: 1:58:53

i.e. the same as thru FFMPEG.

That's it.

EDIT: I gave a try thru MakeMKV and then demuxed the resulting mkv. I have the same THD file sizes, CRC and lenght of eac3to.

Plus I have checked the embedded ac3 and they have the same lenght of the eac3to/MakeMKV THD/flac output, i.e. 1:59:25 and 1:58:53.

1. Please give a link to purchase that exact disk. Why do I always have to ask for this? :?

2. "2.555.362.232" I don't understand this format. What is it and how is it interpreted?

"2.555.362.232"

Civilized countries use commas. Otherwise, how do you know if one of them is the decimal point? :?

"dunno how to give you a link"

Bummer. I'll try to duplicate with disks that I have.

**** Windows regional settings. Too lazy to play with them and have some program not to recognize the new format.

In Italy, anyway, for money we commonly use ' or . for thousands plus , for decimals.

For pure numbers we use international notation, with no separator for thousands at all for small numbers or spaces for bigger ones and . for decimals.

til is a common mistake. You can use until or till. Trust me, I'm a native English speaker and worked as an editor for Bell Labs for 7 years. You can also verify usage through google.

@Guest 2

I just demuxed the ITA THD and obtained the following results (get file sizes from file properties windows):

DGDemux: 2,744,391,738
DGIndexNV: 2,744,391,738

This is the same as EAC3TO and all three are bit identical.

Maybe you are not using latest software versions (the errors are like those we had with earlier versions)? Or, smoking something?

I won't go any further with the transcoding stuff till (!) this size matter is resolved.

EDIT: Sizes above were corrected.

Just downloaded latest files from your server and the exe inside have same file date, size and CRC32 of mine.

The only thing I have changed from yesterday is the latest version of MKVExtract.exe inside DGIndexNV folder.

Now the funny part: all the 3 software produce the same file size BUT it is DIFFERENT from yours and the same as the eac3to version of yesterday test.

2.675.189.696 [eng] DGDemux.thd
2.675.189.696 [eng] DGIndexNV.thd
2.675.189.696 [eng] eac3to.thd
2.744.391.738 [ita] DGDemux.thd
2.744.391.738 [ita] DGIndexNV.thd
2.744.391.738 [ita] eac3to.thd

I am using x64 version of DGIndexNV, DGDemux and MKVExtract. Are you using x86 or x64?

What do DGIndexNV and DGDemux use to demux a BD folder?

That is so strange.

Oops, I previously posted size on disk. I have edited it to correct that. So I have:

DGDemux: 2,744,391,738
DGIndexNV: 2,744,391,738
EAC3TO: 2,744,391,738

All bit identical. Is there still an issue? I'm thinking you inadvertently had old versions for your initial testing.

MKVExtract is irrelevant for MPLS. I use x64.

I use my own code to demux. Surely you know that. :?

Nope, unless you want to investigate why we have different file sizes.

Nope. I downloaded latest file versions and checked file size, file date and checksum.

So strange.

What are you talking about? We do not have different file sizes!

My size: DGDemux: 2,744,391,738
Your size: 2.744.391.738 [ita] DGDemux.thd

And files cannot be bit identical and have different sizes.

I'm wasting valuable time on this.
I put lot of efforts to understand on my own before posting, that's why I am so silent for long periods of time.

I would never waste your or my time.
