[RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
[RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
It's likely that many of us will upgrade to Win 10, since it's free, pretty sane (compared to Win 8) and just installs over Win 7/8 without trouble. I just did.
However, the machine id for DGIndexNV changes upon this upgrade. We can use the license generator, of course, but it will increment the count, which is not entirely fair in this case.. No big deal for me (I use DGIndexNV on just one box for now) but it might be for some.
Just saying...

Re: License change on Windows 10 upgrade
My policy is and has always been to reset people to 0 if and when they run out of licenses.
Re: License change on Windows 10 upgrade
Good to know. Thanks, Donald!
Re: License change on Windows 10 upgrade
You're welcome, tartaki. I aim to please.
Re: License change on Windows 10 upgrade
I installed Win10 too, and found that I needed a new license.
I had an old userID which has exceeded its limit. Luckily I had a second userID (a separate donation? I don't recall) and used that this time.
I decided to donate again anyway, since I use the NV product a *lot*
Thank you.
(as an aside - Win10 is not 100% compatible prior windows versions ; some VPN connections decide to cease functioning ... install Win10 AYOR).

I really do like it here.

Thanks for the info and donation, hydra3333!
Re: [RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
I upgrade every fast internal Windows 10 build and everytime have to recreate license.
Any way to get it indipendent from system build?

Re: [RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
Theoretically it should be independent as long as there is a good usable motherboard serial number. If not, then it defaults to something else that is not independent.
The problem for me is that it is very difficult to test these things because I would have to test the same motherboard with different Windows versions installed, and that is impractical.
EDIT: A bug was found that explains the invalid license on Windows upgrade. See later in this thread.

Jump over fast build wagon There's at least a build every 2 weeks.admin wrote:Theoretically it should be independent as long as there is a good usable motherboard serial number. If not, then it defaults to something else that is not independent.

Re: [RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
I don't understand what you are saying. What is "fast build wagon"? What has builds every two weeks?
Re: [RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
On Windows 10, there is the possibility to get Insider subscription and get every incremental build Microsoft releases.admin wrote:I don't understand what you are saying. What is "fast build wagon"? What has builds every two weeks?
For every build, I have to recreate license, dunno why.

I have a test machine I use to "test" different software interactions.Groucho2004 wrote:Are you working as a tester for Microsoft's OS or are you just masochistic by nature?
Having problems with CUDA and OpenCL interactions, I hope some build will fix this issue.

KNLMeansCL avisynth plugin used in a script with DGDecNV.
Re: [RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
Yes, wasn't it obvious?
Re: [RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
I suppose Guest 2 made a typo.
Re: [RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
I just found a
in my licensing code that explains the bad license on Windows changes. I was incorrectly querying the motherboard serial number.

Re: [RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
OK, I slip-streamed the new version. You'll have to make a new license, theoretically the last you will ever need with that motherboard.
Re: [RESOLVED] License change on Windows 10 upgrade
Great. I'll test it ASAP and tell you on next Win10 iteration build.admin wrote:OK, I slip-streamed the new version. You'll have to make a new license, theoretically the last you will ever need with that motherboard.
