Ben Rudiak-Gould's Home Page

I have a bachelor's degree in physics with a minor in computer science from the University of California at Berkeley. I am currently on leave of absence from graduate studies in mathematics (also at UC Berkeley).

In my spare time I program in C++ and Perl, do Japanese-English translation, and write web pages.

Here's a list of what's currently available at this web site.

Win32 software

Avisynth: A video-editing language. Free, with source code (GPL).

HuffYUV: A very fast, mathematically lossless video codec. Free, with source code (GPL).

TMPGEnc English patch: An English translation of the popular, excellent and free MPEG compression program TMPGEnc.

Tomb Raider flight patch: An amusing cheat mode for the Tomb Raider series of games.

Essays

Donations: In which I explain why it's in your best interest to send me money.

Digital media and the DMCA: What is happening to United States copyright law right now, and why you should be concerned.

Mr. Tompkins in the real world: My collection of essays on "pop relativity." Currently unavailable; someday to be rereleased with extensive changes and probably a new name (depending on how much of my Copious Free Time I can devote to it).
